Developer resources / API

Your workspace, through one API.

Create jobs, follow progress, read results and export CSV with the Octrieve customer API. Your website credits and plan limits apply.

Customer API and API-key MCP are available to registered accounts.

CUSTOMER API + MCP

From a key to actual results.

Create a scoped key

Sign in, create a key and save it in your MCP client or server’s secret store. Check available modes and credits.

01
Run a budgeted job

Confirm the target and maxCredits. Create with a UUID; poll the job id and keep that UUID for retries.

02
Read or download results

Read paginated JSON results or export CSV when the job finishes. MCP gives you a short-lived download link.

03

Connect to your workspace.

Create a key, check capabilities, then start a job with a UUID and a hard credit budget. Poll the returned job id before exporting.

REST quick start

curl 'https://octrieve.com/api/v1/capabilities' \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OCTRIEVE_API_KEY"

curl 'https://octrieve.com/api/v1/jobs' \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OCTRIEVE_API_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -H 'Idempotency-Key: 5f91520e-3e40-4f72-80e8-e559a5e3c1a0' \
  -d '{"platform":"x","direction":"followers",
       "target":"example","maxCredits":10}'

Poll, read and export

# Replace JOB_ID with the returned data.id.
curl 'https://octrieve.com/api/v1/jobs/JOB_ID' \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OCTRIEVE_API_KEY"

curl 'https://octrieve.com/api/v1/jobs/JOB_ID/results?pageSize=20' \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OCTRIEVE_API_KEY"

curl 'https://octrieve.com/api/v1/jobs/JOB_ID/export' \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OCTRIEVE_API_KEY" \
  -o results.csv

Errors and rate limits

HTTP/1.1 409 Conflict
X-Request-Id: <request UUID>
{"code":-1,"message":"insufficient_credits"}

HTTP/1.1 429 Too Many Requests
Retry-After: 2
X-Request-Id: <request UUID>
{"code":-1,"message":"rate_limited"}

Keep credentials in your client’s secret environment. Reads return JSON; CSV is streamed. After a timeout retry the same input with the same UUID. Never create a replacement job blindly. Limits return 429 and Retry-After; business conflicts return 409.

Developer resources / API

One workflow. Shared account limits.

Versioned REST endpoints

Use /api/v1 with a customer Bearer key. Start with capabilities and your account’s current allowance.

Asynchronous and retry-safe

Creation returns a job id. Reuse the same Idempotency-Key and input after an uncertain response.

JSON results and CSV exports

Read up to 100 records per page or stream the CSV after the job finishes.

Start with permissions. Finish with results.

Use a read-only key for existing data, or choose write access when your assistant needs to create a task.

Give your assistant a grounded start.

Read the live documentation first, then check permissions and the user’s budget before creating a task.

A few things to know.

Can I connect through API or MCP today?

Yes. Registered accounts can create a customer API key. Use REST, an MCP client that accepts Bearer headers, or the standalone stdio bridge. The site administrator can disable access.

Do you support OAuth-only MCP clients?

This version uses pre-issued API keys. It does not offer an OAuth sign-in or consent flow. Use a client that supports Bearer headers or local stdio processes.

Do I need a paid plan for API or MCP?

No. Free, Pro and Max use the same allowance and mode restrictions as the website. Annual plans still grant credits monthly. A write key and an explicit budget are required to create jobs.

Can AI fill in missing contact details?

Ask your assistant to flag missing information rather than guess it. A collected email is not a deliverability guarantee, and the export should not be treated as proof of verification.
